Art of Personal Safety's 6 Core Disciplines

Core Discipline #1: Mindful Breathing Meditations

"A Journey Into The Source"

This core discipline is about learning how to breathe properly so we can connect to the "source," the energy that animates all life and is within all of us.

Breathing is something we all do, but do we really know how to do it correctly? Most of us do not. We breathe just enough to get by so our autonomic system can function at its bare minimum. Many of us take shallow breaths from our chests, which can lead to stress, anxiety, and other health problems.

Through mindful breathing meditations. we will be learning and discovering how powerful a single breath can be and how we can harness the energy that is within each breath. We will be tapping into it so we can utilize its endless and unlimited power to heal ourselves and others.

“When we understand energy, we can manipulate energy.”

Through mindful breathing meditations, we will learn how energy enters our bodies and how it leaves our bodies, a process of learning how to live and learning how to die. As we breathe in energy/air (life) our bodies get tense and as we breathe out the stale energy/air our bodies die as we relax and let go. We breathe in life and we breathe out death. Most of us still hold on to life as we breathe out. We have to learn how to let go. We have to learn how to die with every out breath. We are not talking about physical death, we are talking about the in-breath and the out-breath as living and dying.

Our bodies should be relaxed as we breathe out, but we hold on to experiences and events from yesterday, last week, last month, last year,..etc. We do this because we are afraid to let go, because we do not know how to let go, or because we simply do not know. Most of the time these are the cases. We need to trust and connect to the Universal lifestream through the practice of mindful breathing meditations.

“Breath is life. Each moment of life resides in a single breath and each breath creates a moment.”

We will learn how to match our breath to the movements of our actions. Instead of wasting energy, we will become one with it. We will connect with it. We will tap into it.

Breathing is the one constant thing in our lives. It’s something we do automatically and often take for granted. But, breathing is more than just a physical process that keeps us alive. It’s also closely linked to our mental and emotional well-being.

Breathing is also linked to our emotional state. When we feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, our breathing becomes shallow and rapid. This can lead to feelings of panic and anxiety, which can negatively impact our mental health.

Breathing is not only necessary for our physical survival, but it’s also essential for our mental and emotional well-being. By paying attention to our breath and adopting simple breathing techniques, we can improve our overall health and happiness.

Incorporating mindful breathing meditations into your daily routine can have numerous health benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety levels, improving respiratory function, and promoting relaxation.
