Mindful Breathing

"Breathing is LIFE"

In this session, we will learn about Mindful Breathing. This is one of the most important core disciplines for the Art of Personal Safety.

An article in Archiv Fur Kriminologie states the body can survive for 8 to 21 days without food and water and up to two months if there’s access to an adequate water intake, but mere minutes when it comes to breathing.

And yet, we do not take the time to breathe. To live, we need to breathe. Breathing saves our bodies. Over the years, we placed our breathing on “auto-pilot.” We breathe just enough to get by. Most of us do not even know what a diaphragm is, even though it plays a major role in our day to day breathing.

Air is the body’s nourishment. We all need to breathe, not just to get by but to give Life its continuance.

If one does not breathe properly one does not perform effectively. Proper breathing will help us to stay relaxed and calm in difficult and dangerous situations.

Breathing is a necessity, Breathing is life-giving, and Breathing is life-saving. Especially in the areas of personal safety.

With our mindfulness in deep breathing we can have:

  • Increased purification of blood
  • Decreased in toxins
  • Increased digestion
  • Decreased waste
  • Improved nervous systems
  • Improved functioning of the glands, producing chemical requirements of the body
  • Improves lung capacity and resistance
  • Reduces heart load and helps heart live longer
  • Controls weight of the body
  • Regulate heat and cooling systems of the body
  • Improves health and reduces weakness
  • Oxygen to brain and mind relaxes

When we train ourselves to be mindful of our breathing, we develop a system of consciousness that resonates throughout our physical bodies. We begin to gain control of ourselves.
